Greenkeeper's Report

Work program commencing Monday 12th October:

• Brush and blow off the thatch on the worst fairways
• Finish spraying feed on the fairways (this will help recovery from fairway maintenance)
• Start to weed bunker faces
• Spike greens (this will only be done if the surface is not disturbed due to the scarifying lines)
• Sorrel roll greens
• Mark fairways out
• G.U.R bare areas
• Finish spraying weeds on the shrub area by the 14th tees
• Blow and clear up leaves
• Cut hedges on 10th/13th/driving range/roadside by main carpark (agricultural contractor will be doing the work)
• Put new sand on bunker faces on new 16th green
• Put out winter tee markers (bring summer tee markers in to rub down and paint)
• Service some machines
• Replace Barry Carter’s broken birch tree
• Do some drainage work around the Greenkeeper compound (last winter with all the rain the green keepers sheds were getting flooded out)
• Raise height of cut on tees and aprons (10mm)

Last week was fairway maintenance:

• Considering weather conditions were not great to do the work all fairways were scarified and most of the thatch was cleared up. More work will be done this week on the worst fairways to clear up the thatch that was not blown away.

Work done:

• Scarfied all the fairways
  
• Cleared up the thatch
• Seeded and top dressed the bare areas on holes 4 and 16
• Started to spray fertiliser on the fairways (help improve recovery from fairway maintenance)
• Sprayed fungicide on greens (fusarium disease is on some of the greens. This is common after maintenance week when the grass is under stress from work done)
• Sprayed fertiliser on greens (help recovery from fusarium disease)
• Raised the height of cut on the greens to 4.5mm (this will help take stress off the grass plant)
• Sorrel rolled the greens three times
• Sprayed weeds on new 16th green bunker faces
  
• Tidied both carparks (blew leaves)
  
• Marked out the fairways (now that winter rules are in operation fairways will be marked out each week so you can see where the fairways are)
  
• Cleaned and painted winter tee markers
• Cut driving range tee and strimmed carpark area
• Cut and cleared up hanging branches from storm damage
