Greenkeeper's report...
The very wet winter has created a few problems for the greens and fariways and we have put together our action plan below.... Greens: Work will start this week as this is essential work to help produce a good playing surface (while the work is being done the greens will be on temporarys so the green staff can get the work done more efficiently please be patient) Work that will be done on the greens over the next few weeks: - Verti cut the greens - helps fine down the leaf blade and thin out the grass sward (work will start this week on the dry greens)
- Hollow tine (10mm diameter tines) - helps remove organic matter, thatch (work will start this week on the dry greens)
- Top dress the green - helps break down the organic matter and produce a better playing surface
- Scarify the greens - helps remove organic matter
- Fertilise - helps make the grass plant stronger
Fairways: Due to the very wet winter and leather jacket damage some fairways are very poor. Work being done on the fariways over the next few weeks: - Scarify the fairways - helps thin out the grass sward, removes organic matter ?thatch? and makes a seed bed
- Over seed the worst areas and top dress
- Fertilise the fairways with a slow release feed
Work being done this week: - Start verti cutting greens
- Start hollow tinning greens
- Collect golf balls on the driving range
- Start work on bunker edges (rake a seed bed, seed, top dress and fertilise)
- Raise low sprinkerlers
- Start cutting wet areas on the course as ground conditions dry out
Work done last week: - Bare areas were G.U.R
- Tee mats brushed
- Low sprinkerlers raise
