Birdport bowl beckons... The draw for the Birdport bowl not far away now and we would like to see as many names as possible put forward for this great annual event. As always the club has entered 2 teams and the captains are Steve Harlow and Malcolm Wilson. For the benefit of new members and those who have not previously considered it, each team consists of ten players and is a 4bbb format. Any player must be 50 or above and have a handicap of 20 or less. The organisers get 48 teams, all within a 50-mile radius of Bournemouth and for the first round, divides them into 16 groups of three. In each group, each team plays a home and an away match. The winners and the runners up of each group go into two separate knockouts- winners for the Bridport bowl, and runners up for the Bridport jug. We need as many people as possible, so please enter your name on the sheet on the notice board. When the draw is made (end of Feb or early March), one of the two captains will send you an email to ascertain your availability. Matches are more often mid-week but can be weekends and there is usually some sort of snack meal afterwards.
It’s friendly but competitive, and it’s a good chance to play some good courses.
