[* END *] Greenkeepers report
Work being done week commencing Monday 18th February
- Spike all the greens (use 19mm solid tines) - Change both sets of holes (holes get damaged when greens are spiked) - Top dress greens (look to put 20tonnes of sand on the greens) - Brush in the sand with our sweep and fill brush (this machine does a great job to get the sand down the holes after spiking) - Turf iron the greens (helps give a better putting surface after all the work done on the greens) - G.U.R bare areas around the greens - Brush par 3 tee mats - Lift low sprinklers on greens - Carry on thinning out hedge around 13th green
Work done last week
- All aprons were spiked (19mm solid tines used) - All tees and new 16th green/apron were fertilised - Lifting low sprinklers on greens is ongoing (we have around 100 greens sprinklers and most of them are low so this is a slow but important job) - Plenty of grass cutting was done as the ground was starting to dry out after all the snow and rain (all tees, aprons, long banks and rough were cut. The greens were cut and turf ironed twice to help give a better putting surface) - All fairways and thin areas were spiked (no more f/w spiking will be done until next autumn, the reason being if we get another dry summer the slits will open up and make a bad playing surface) - Thinning out of hedge around 13th green (all cuttings will be moved and burnt when ground conditions are good)

We all love new golf equipment – be it balls, clubs or shoes; there’s nothing like stepping out onto the course knowing that everything in your bag is in pristine condition. Except, for the majority of golfers, there’s always one thing which is often forgotten about... |
| How old are your grips? |
| Losing control during your swing? |
|
If you pulled a club out of your bag now, what state would your grips be in? You’ll probably notice that they’re at the very least losing some of the tackiness they once had or, in the worst cases, worn away so badly that they’re completely unrecognizable - a clear sign they need to be replaced. The benefits to getting your clubs regripped are huge, and they can even improve your performance. Take the ALIGN grips from Golf Pride; these have a raised edge on the back (red part of grip seen here) to perfect your hand placement every time. |
|
As you can see, we're currently running a promotion where you can get your 7-iron regripped for FREE; all you need to do is pop in-store and decide which of these grips you want to try out. |
