Greenkeepers report Work being done week commencing Monday 11th February; - Spike all the aprons and temporary greens - Carry on spiking the fairways and thin areas - Move 4th fairway post (ground conditions were too wet last week to do the job) - Mark fairways out (ground conditions were too wet last week to do the job) - Carry on thinning out the hedge around the 13th green - Lift low sprinklers on greens - Glysophate chipping green and new 16th green bunkers
Work done last week; - Hedge cuttings below 4/15 cockle shell path were burnt - 14th hole Scot pine trees had all their low branches cut and then the area was tidied up - The sump on the 8th bunker was filled in with rubble and then topped up with 40mm clean stone (it will be topped up with soil this week) area will be seeded in the spring - All tees were spiked - All greens and aprons were fertilised (as weather was mild fertilising was done to help encourage grass growth and make the plant stronger against disease) - Work was started on the 13th hedge by the green. The hedge will be thinned out to help let more light and air flow onto the green. All hedge cuttings will be tidied up when it’s frosty because the ground will be hard so we can push the cuttings with a tractor and make less mess
