Winter Competitions Programme
As we approach our Winter competitions the Competitions Committee would like to thank all competitors in the Summer Knockouts for their diligence in completing all the rounds by their end dates.
Now turning our attention to the following 5 months there are some changes to our traditional calendar.
• Firstly, there will be no singles qualifying competitions throughout December to February 2019. This is in anticipation of adverse weather conditions causing a 15-hole temporary course.
• Secondly, in view of the above, the Winter League will have a different format and an entry sheet for this competition has been placed on the noticeboard. This explains all the rules and we hope for a good entry.
• Finally, all the Winter Knockouts will be posted in September for an October draw.
Winter League
The draw for the winter league has now been made, the list of fixtures and tables are up at the golf club. All matches are to be played by January 31st.
Winter Knockouts
Entry for the winter knockouts is now open and on the board at the golf club. Get your name down to keep your game sharp this winter!

Green Keepers report
Work being done week commencing Monday 29th October - Seed, top dress and feed par 3 tees - Fertilise greens and tees - Spray seaweed and energiser on greens - Spray fungicide on greens (preventative spray against fusarium and help stop anthracnose disease) - Carry on levelling banks and finish 4th and 5th ditches (winter work) - Trim bunker edges and check sand levels - Fix buggy shed gutters, cut over hanging branches and empty water containers - Driving range being cut Tuesday Last week Work started on removing some banks (12th/7th holes) trees will be planted in this area Making banks easier to maintain (10th hole) Piping, stoning and filling in 4th/5th ditches. By doing this work it will reduce time in maintaining those areas so giving us time for more important jobs The fertiliser that was applied on the greens has helped grow in the thin areas from anthracnose disease. More fertiliser will be put on when temperatures warm up as this will continue to help give good grass growth and help with recovery. Peter Connett (Head Greenkeeper) |
Winter is coming, but we know that won't prevent you avid golfers getting out on the course to face biting winds, muddy shoes and, most of all, rain. Lots and lots of rain. With this in mind, it's more important than ever to have a golf bag which will keep your clubs and belongings dry during a downpour. |
Introducing Titleist's StaDry Deluxe This is where a cart bag like the StaDry Deluxe comes into play. You'll certainly be keeping your valuables dry if you opted to upgrade your golf bag to this offering over the winter thanks to Titleist’s StaDry waterproof technology, which ensures maximum coverage from the rain during your round. Weighing in at 2.9 kgs, it's also incredibly lightweight, making it easy to lift to and from the car boot to your trolley.
