In this week’s email, we look at the impact of a study by the University of Edinburgh on your golf game, we feature some exciting new product that has just landed in-store, and we look at what happened during last weekend's PGA Tour event in Phoenix.

A new arena for golf?

Last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open on the PGA Tour might seem like an ordinary event on the surface, but it has one particular aspect that no other event comes anywhere near to.

The 16th at TPC Scottsdale is turned into a sporting arena with grandstands lining the entire par-3 to create space for 16,000 spectators on the 163-yard hole, referred to by many as the Colosseum.

English Girls Championship

As many of you will know we are hosting the English Girls under 14 and under 16 championships this year. The dates that this will be happening are the 6th-9th of August. If any members would like to volunteer to help out on any of these days it would be much appreciated, for more information please contact Duncan or Melissa in the office.

Driving Range

Can anyone who has a driving range basket please return it to the pro shop as soon as possible as once again we are very short of baskets.

Also if any members have any old golf balls that they are willing to donate for use on the driving range it would be very much appreciated by the club.

Our FREE golf assessment offer is still available.

Available on Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays, it includes swing analysis and an equipment check, so it’s definitely an offer not to be missed.

Quiz Night

The next quiz night will be on Tuesday 13th February.

£7.50 per person for food.

The food on the evening will be Chicken Chasseur, Creamed Potatoes and Buttered Peas. There will also be a vegetarian option.

Well January was not a good month for ladies’ golf, but let’s hope February is better. There are no competition results to report but there are various social events that you may be interested in and would like to support.

The list for the Captain vs Vice on Thursday 15th has been taken down, so if you have not signed up please email Sandra. The draw was be doneon the weekend, there will also be a reserve list if you do miss the draw as there are always some withdrawals at the last moment.

The date of the next quiz is Tuesday 13th, not the 6th February as previously stated apologies for this. There is a new member who would like to be part of a team so if you do not have a complete team or someone drops out please email me and we will put you in contact with her.

Ladies Roll up is on a Tuesday at 9am, so do turn up15 minutes before if you would like to play everyone is welcome.

Social golf is on Sunday 18th so please sign up or email me back if you would like to play.

The lists for Interclub matches, Beales matches and Friendlies are up in the ladies’ locker room please sign up if you would like to play in any of the matches.

Due to the extremely wet conditions, Preferred Lies are permitted anywhere on the course except in a hazard. This temporary local rule will be in operation until further notice.

Ladies Golf Week is now open for entries. Members entry fee £5 per event, visitors £20 per event.

Sassy has asked me to remind you about the Coffee Morning on Tuesday 13th March. Lists will go up asking for promises of cakes, jams etc. for the home produce stall. There will also be a plant stall and book and DVD stall, and of course the raffle, so please sign up to offer to bring items for the stalls. Helpers will also be needed to man the stalls so please offer to help if you can it will be very much appreciated.
