First one way, now the other The U.S. Open had everything from the sublime to the ridiculous, and it’s safe to say that the course set-up played a huge part in this. With much of the debate centred around whether the USGA made conditions too tricky or not, we posed this very question to you over the past week on our website poll and here are the results: 75% of you believe the USGA got it wrong at Shinnecock Hills It really does make for interesting reading. Just a couple of months ago we asked you whether you’d prefer to see 20-under-par win a tournament or two-over-par, and the results were the complete reverse. On that occasion, 82% voted in favour of seeing the world’s best struggle to make a score, which is exactly what happened at the U.S. Open. Click here to let us know your thoughts. |

Trolley Shed Can I please remind everyone to make sure they close the trolley shed once they are finished in there. We have had a few complaints from people saying that the door has been left open.
|
Roll up times Can each roll up please make sure they collect their sheet of players before going out and sign everyone in. No tee times will be taken off any roll ups, this is just so that we can free the crossover time up for other members. |
125th Anniversary week
This year we are holding a week full of events to celebrate our 125th anniversary. Monday, 9 will be Seniors day, Tuesday, 10 will be mixed day, Wednesday, 11 will be men’s day, Thursday, 12 will be ladies’ day and Saturday, 14 will be all members day. May I remind everyone that they can bring a guest with them to one of these days for only £10, this includes prizes and a meal afterwards, an opportunity you don’t want to miss out on. |
125th Anniversary - Fastest round of Golf
On Friday 13th July, as a part of the 125th anniversary celebrations we are to make an attempt on the world record for “The Fastest Round Of Golf by a Team of Players”. According to the Guinness book this stand at 13 minutes and 52 seconds and is held by Farnham Golf Club. This is somewhat confusing because twenty-five years ago a team accomplished this feat in twelve minutes! There is no limit to the size of the team and so the more members, men, ladies and juniors we have taking part, the greater are our chances of success.
We are hoping that as many of you as possible will join in this piece of enjoyment. Low handicap players will be playing the tee shots and groups of golfers will be positioned ready to advance the ball to the green, where chippers and putters will be holing out. As soon as one hole is completed the next tee shot is struck. The record does not require the same ball to be used throughout the round. We will also need members to indicate the direction of the tee shots and at some holes to telegraph ‘Go’ to the next tee shot. We hope that the press and local TV will take interest which should add to the feel-good factor. The event will take place at 6.00pm and will be followed by a barbecue. |
Which bracket do you fall in? |
There’s one thing that you'll always need in abundance when playing golf and that’s balls - and plenty of them. Each golf ball we sell offers different levels of feel and performance at varying price points, meaning we have something to offer all playing preferences and budgets. |
| Bang for your buck Balls at a cheaper price point usually have one key performance benefit rather than offering a little of everything. This Callaway Warbird follows the trend by offering maximum distance with your longer clubs thanks to its aerodynamic dimples and high-energy core, giving you lots of power for little expenditure. |
| The all-rounder If you’re looking for more balanced performance through the bag but without the premium price tag, this Callaway Supersoft ball is designed to be long, straight and soft. It doesn’t spin as much as the Chrome Soft, but its low compression core helps create long, high flights that land softly. |
| Tour performance The saying 'you get what you pay for' certainly applies when it comes to golf balls. Callaway's Chrome Soft is their premium option, and it's easy to see why, with a soft urethane cover for short-game spin and a graphene-infused core that boosts ball speed and provides more iron control. |
